Ready to start a business? Here’s the simple, most helpful advice that’s hard to find.
When researching how to start my marketing business and form an LLC, I was overwhelmed by the confusing information online. I just wanted simple answers but every article and blog post told me something different.
Now that I’ve been self-employed for over a year and have had LLCs in Georgia and Texas, I want to share what I’ve learned through research and trial and error. This will save you time and money.
This video about LLC formation advice covers:
- Naming your business
- LLC filing: DIY or hire a service like LegalZoom or Incfile (jump to 01:25)
- Should you be your own registered agent? (I don’t recommend it, mainly for safety reasons) (jump to 02:24)
- LLC friendly states – does it matter if you file in your home state or should you incorporate in a business-friendly state such as Wyoming, Nevada, or Delaware? (I recommend your home state – being a foreign entity is a pain) (jump to 03:24)
Here’s my video about using your LLC to maximize credit card points rewards with Chase Ultimate Rewards (I talk about the Chase Trifecta and focus on the Chase Ink Cash card, which gets you 5x points at office supply stores like Staples (and there is a trick to get an additional 2x that I share below!)
